Scope
- Consumption tracking: electricity (hourly OSOS data), natural gas and other fuels are tracked monthly, with TOE and tCO₂e equivalents.
- Energy performance: consumption per unit of production, per occupied room-night or per m² (specific energy consumption, SEC) and the causes of deviations.
- Regulatory duties: preparation of the energy manager appointment and the annual energy consumption notifications (ENVER portal), and records of energy management activities.
- Efficiency recommendations: each is based on a measured value and reported with the expected savings (kWh, TOE), investment and simple payback period.
- Supply and tariffs: the supply contract, the choice between single- and two-part tariffs, reactive energy and invoice consistency are assessed with the Recommendations page of the Energy Monitoring Portal.
- ISO 50001: energy review, energy performance indicators and internal audit support for organisations implementing or maintaining an energy management system.
Method and instruments
Consumption data is processed into the Energy Monitoring Portal every day via OSOS (the automatic meter reading system); invoices and fuel records are added monthly. Periods with deviations are investigated on site: load profiles with the Kyoritsu KEW 6315 power analyser, heat losses with the Bosch GTC 400 C thermal camera and boiler efficiency with the testo 310 II flue gas analyser.
Savings are verified with the energy baseline approach of ISO 50006: consumption before and after a measure is compared after adjusting for variables such as production volume or outdoor temperature.
The frequency of site visits and the reporting calendar are set in the contract according to the size of the facility.

Frequently asked questions
Does our facility have to appoint an energy manager?
Yes, if your total annual energy consumption (electricity and fuels, in TOE) or your building floor area exceeds the thresholds above. We calculate the TOE equivalent from your last 12 months of electricity and fuel invoices and report the result in writing.
Is the energy manager on site all the time?
In an outsourced service the energy manager is not an employee of the facility. Consumption is updated every day in the Energy Monitoring Portal and deviations appear as alerts; the frequency of site visits is set in the contract.
What information is needed to start?
Electricity and natural gas invoices for the last 12 months, the OSOS installation number, production or occupancy data (for SEC), shift and operating patterns and any previous energy audit report.
How are savings demonstrated?
Measurements are taken under the same conditions before and after a measure. The comparison follows the energy baseline approach of ISO 50006, adjusted for variables such as production volume and outdoor temperature, and the result is reported in kWh and TOE.
